Spiritual Formation @ Westview

Westview has a unique approach to spiritual formation and discipleship. We are an established, older congregation transitioning to a new chapter in the life of the church, and we have created a monthly “rhythm” of engagement that encourages us to go deeper and wider in our faith journeys.

First Sunday of the month: 9:30am Communion Service and 11:00am Gathering “council” style. “The Way of Council” is a unique form of gathering that creates trust and engagement to deep you into what the Spirit is metabolizing in your life

Second and Fourth Sundays of the Month: 9:30am Worship Service and 11:00am Book Study

Third Sunday of the Month: 9:30am Worship Service and 11:00am Walk in the Wild.

Come and experience a spiritual practice of a wander in a wild or semi-wild place and learn how to access what Soul and Spirit are doing in your life.

One of the distinguishing marks of our spiritual formation practice is a deepening awareness of the Earth and the profound sense of belonging that comes from recovering our innate affinity for the natural world.

Despite all the references to our connection in John 1, Ephesians 1, Colossians 1, and Hebrews 1, reconnecting in our relationship with the Earth is a missing piece in many of our traditional discipleship practices. Our rhythm of connection is heavily influenced by Bill Plotkin and the work of the Animas Valley Institute, through which Pastor Dan is a trained guide.

Summer Immersion
During the summer we like to have our five-day immersion in the Rocky Mountains. The immersion includes car camping and exploring the nature-based map of the human psyche as found in Bill Plotkin’s Wild Mind and The Journey of Soul Initiation. The five days is the crown jewel of our program and tends to be a life altering, profoundly healing adventure.
