Westview Presbytarian Church
Youth Group- Grades 6th-12th

Youth group meets on Sunday nights from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. During each meeting we have a fun, wacky, and action packed night for folks in grades 6-12; where all are welcome and invited. Youth group starts off with a few minutes of socializing, eating snacks, and chatting w/ friends, followed by a time of group praise, worship, announcements, prayer time, and small-group discussions (usually split into middle school and high school groups) on a given topic, how it relates to them, how it relates to their culture as a whole, what they might have learned from it, and how they can apply what they’ve learned. Obviously, we as a church tie it to the Bible. Yes, the Bible (I know...how daring, how bold). We want the youth to realize the Bible is a very impacting book for all generations. After the discussion time, we’re back together for lots of fun with games. We’ll have a crazy, run around – throw a ball- burn up all of that excess energy - type game, followed by a much calmer game (because by then the youth leaders are exhausted and huffing uncontrollably). Those who want to play the games can, and those who wanna just visit with each other, sure can. Then, we wrap things up at 8:00 pm.

SMYD

Sunday Mornings we have SMYD (Sunday Morning Youth Discussion) from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. SMYD is composed of a deeper Bible study. Some of the blocks of study have been “The Matrix and the Bible”, “If God Loves Me, Why Can’t I Get My Locker Open”, “Preparing for Youth Sunday,” and “What Revelation is Really All About!” Again SMYD is split-up between middle school and high school with topics focused on that specific age group.
