Community/Local Outreach

Westview members and friends are engaged in many efforts to help those in Longmont and Boulder County. Listed below are current and annual local projects which offer opportunities for reaching out to the community.

The Round Pantry at Westview Presbyterian Church

In spring 2010, Westview's Round Pantry, a member agency of Community Food Share (CFS), opened to serve the hungry in Longmont. The pantry is open 2-7 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month for anyone in need of food. Food supplies come from the CFS warehouse and from members who donate items for the shelves, refrigerator, and freezer of the Pantry. Nonperishable items can be left in labeled tubs at any time. Perishable items can be taken to the Round Pantry on the Sundays before the second and fourth Tuesdays of a month before the worship service begins so that a volunteer can store them at the appropriate temperature. There are many Pantry tasks for which volunteers are needed. To find out more about volunteer opportunities, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Additional opportunities on an annual basis

  • Boulder County CROP Walk. A Westview team participates every autumn, and in 2009 Westview served as the starting location.
  • Christmas Outreach for Local Families. Annual Christmas Celebration for families in need. For many years, Westview invited the families of the Inn Between, a local nonprofit that provides transitional housing for homeless families and individuals, to celebrate Christ's birth by providing a traditional Christmas meal and gifts.
In 2010, this outreach expanded to include families who shop at Westview's Round Pantry and other guests who take part in our monthly Community Supper.
  • Annual Community Food Share Donation Drives in fall and spring. Westview volunteers assist with bag distribution, sorting and shelving of donated food.
